From 5 pm, enjoy an informal interview with this month's guest, historical harpist and HHSI Founder / Director, Dr Siobhán Armstrong.
Siobhán is Ireland’s most versatile performer of medieval to 18th-century church and chamber music, and opera. She performs and records with many of Europe's prestigious historical and traditional musicians, directors, orchestras and baroque opera companies. For more than 25 years, Siobhán has been exploring the lost repertory, playing techniques and idiom of the early Irish harp. With her ensemble, The Irish Consort, she released the acclaimed recording Music, Ireland and the Sixteenth Century on Destino Classics, UK, one of The Irish Times’ top five international Classical Music picks of 2021.
This July, Siobhán will lead the Irish Consort in a concert performance of William Lawes's 'Harp Consorts' featuring the modern world premiere of this music on a multi-row chromatic Irish harp. In our guest interview, Siobhán will talk about working with Lawes's 'Harp Consorts' and preparing for this premiere performance.
