Virtual summer festival 2020

Uncategorised · 17th July 2020

Online videos: archive talks, workshops & concert footage,
most of which have not been seen before!

We want to keep the flavour of a typical Scoil day in Kilkenny. So from Thurs. 13 to Mon. 17 August, 2020, we will be unveiling three videos each day: a talk, a workshop and concert footage from past Scoileanna. Look at, and listen to unique events from past festivals, when we were all together, interacting, learning from, and enjoying each other. Relive the spirit of that in each of these presentations. You will be able to see them on this website and on our youtube channel.

Check back in with us for more details closer to the festival.

One-to-one virtual coaching with some of the world’s great players and scholars of early Irish harp.

We know that many of our Scoil participants will be missing so many aspects of the festival. But this is one aspect of it that can go ahead without too much ado. You will be able to book one-to-one virtual coaching sessions with any of our Scoil coaches, 13–17 August.

We have invited back every harpist who has coached at Scoil na gCláirseach over the years. Here’s who is in our stellar 2020 virtual-coaching line-up so far: Siobhán Armstrong (IRL), Simon Chadwick (N IRL), Sylvia Crawford (N IRL), Ann Heymann (USA), Andrew Lawrence King (GUERNSEY) Eibhlís Ní Ríordáin (IRL), James Ruff (USA) and Bill Taylor (SCOT). Read more about our artists here.

Check back with us soon for more details on subject areas offered and contact details. Get in touch if you have any questions.

Scoil na gCláirseach–Festival of Early Irish Harp is made possible with funding from An Chomhairle Ealaíon (The Arts Council) and Kilkenny County Council. Our wonderful bank of HHSI Student harps has been funded by The Music Capital Scheme, supported by the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and managed by Music Network. This year’s video concert series is generously supported by Cruit Éireann / Harp Ireland.
