Scoil na gCláirseach 2019 daily timetable goes live

Uncategorised · 6th March 2019

If you’re going to do one thing for yourself this summer, give yourself the gift of music, history and friendship.

Festival daily programme information here.

Festival hour-by-hour timetable here.

The seventeenth Scoil na gCláirseach—Festival of Early Irish Harp takes place August 14 – 20, 2019 in Kilkenny and we think it’s going to be unforgettable. After months of planning, we have finely honed our daily timetable of events and we can hardly contain ourselves we’re so keen for August to come round!

We are collaborating with Kilkenny’s beautiful Medieval Mile Museum for the first time, so our 2019 evening talks and concerts will be in the very fitting setting of the thirteenth-century St. Mary’s church just off the High St.

Who is it for?

This festival is for everyone – 10+ to older adults – who have never held a harp in their hands before to those of you who have developed a collection of harps and a hoard of historical records and notes: you know who you are! We also warmly welcome those who don’t play at all but who are interested in listening to – and learning more about – Irish history, culture and heritage. Rental harps are available.

Roll up, roll up!

If you’re thinking about coming along to our concerts, workshops, lectures and players’ sessions, now is the time to let us know. Bookings are already rolling in so perhaps you can’t contain yourselves either! As some of you will know, accommodation in Kilkenny can be a challenge in August because it’s high tourist season so do let us know as soon as you can if you are thinking of joining us so we can help you get your lodgings sorted out sooner rather than later.

We look forward to hearing from you, and better still, we look forward to seeing you in August!

Here’s what it’s all about:
