venue 2019

The 2019 festival is spread over two venues in Kilkenny City. Daytime workshops and tuition will be at the same venue that we used for the past two years, Coláiste Pobail Osraí, on Ormonde Road. Evening talks and concerts will take place at the Medieval Mile Museum, in the heart of Kilkenny city centre.

Coláiste Pobail Osraí, 6-7 Ormonde Rd, Kilkenny (behind Ormonde College buildings; entrance through the car park)

Kilkenny is a medieval city which has a rich heritage of fine historical buildings, a great choice of restaurants, wonderful shops, lively night-life, and is an all-year-round tourist destination. Within 90 minutes of Dublin airport, the city is serviced with an intercity bus service and rail link. The nearest ferry port is Rosslare. For further information please see the Kilkenny City & County website.

WHERE TO STAY

There is no on-site accommodation at Scoil na gCláirseach. All participants find their own accommodation. Please get in touch if you need any advice; we are happy to help if we can. Early booking of accommodation is strongly advised, since Kilkenny hotels, hostels and B&Bs can become rather booked-up months in advance. For more information please go to visitkilkenny.ie

The 2019 Scoil overlaps with one of Ireland’s biggest arts festivals – Kilkenny Arts Festival – so be sure to sort out your accommodation as soon as you know you will be joining us, to ensure that your first choice is available to you.
