Comhgairdeas! Congratulations!

Uncategorised · 9th December 2019

The HHSI would like to congratulate Laoise Kelly – who performs on modern Irish harp – on her recent award of TG4’s Gradam Ceoil Ceoltóir na Bliana 2020 Musician of the Year. It’s great to see an Irish harpist recognised for her work. Particularly one who joins most historical harpists in Ireland in playing with her fingernails. : – )

Congratulations are also in order for Cruit Éireann: Harp Ireland who put on a hugely successful gala concert to celebrate Irish harping – Ceiliúradh Cruitireachta: Celebrating Harping – at The Printworks, Dublin Castle, on Sat. 30 November last with everything from early Irish harp to modern Irish harp to pedal harp to a new ensemble composition for 60 (!), with added pipers, singers and more. It was a wonderful evening!
