We are very sorry to have to to announce that, due to the COVID-19 situation, it will not be possible to hold our annual Scoil na gCláirseach–Festival of Early Irish Harp in 2020. It is disappointing for all of us: for our invited artists, and for old and new friends who were planning to join us from as close as Kilkenny and as far away as New Zealand.
STAY SAFE
We hope instead that you stay safely at home this summer, observing your region’s health guidelines, and that you and your loved ones remain vigilant and healthy.
KEEP PLAYING
If you are a player, we would love to think that you might be in a position to practise and play your harp over the coming weeks, using the time to hone your skills, and that you might access and enjoy all the talks, workshops and concerts that our youtube channel offers.
TUNE IN FOR FREE
We are working on selecting a series of videos that we will post each day of what would have been the in-person festival. These are talks, workshops and concert footage from some of our previous seventeen festivals, which have not been available publicly before. With these we want to inspire you and remind you of what it is that we accomplish when we are all together: exploring, learning, discussing, playing and listening: raising the bar for all of us who love the world of the early Irish harp and the repertory that is at the core of Ireland’s music culture. More about that closer to the time…
CONNECT ONE-TO-ONE
We also have one or two other juicy plans to help connect you to a tutor of your choice on any or all of the days of the festival if you would like to have the kind of one-to-one inspiration that has become a feature of recent festivals. More about that in the coming weeks…
SUPPORT US
If you are in a position to, you can become a member or make a one-off donation to support us here.
We hope you all stay safe and well at this difficult time.
